FOLLOWING THE MONEY
HERE’S THE LATEST REPORTING FOR SOME OF THE CANDIDATES FOR THE DISTRICT 2 RACE IN ORDER OF THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THEY RAISED.
ARCHIVES2014_ARCHIVES.html

TERESA SARNOFF

As expected, big checks from Sarnoff pals Jay Solowsky, wife and law firm and Steven Perricone, his restaurant and his wife.  Also big checks from a bunch of New York developers.  The biggest bundle of checks came from the Melo family.  They are the local developers that I wrote about last week looking to get a change in Miami 21 so they can add an additional 12 floors to the rental condo tower they’re looking to build on NE 14th Street.  They’ve not been known as major players in the political game, but it looks like this time they coming with with big bucks for the District 2 Commissioner’s wife.

A mixture of donations, with the big checks coming from her family, Steve Kneapler and family, and a bunch of checks from a group of  Container companies around the country. She comes in a respectable 2nd in the money race so far, but that excludes the $245,250,00 that the Sarnoff’s have in their ECO.  That money will hang over this race as the rain cloud that used hang over Joe Btspik’s head in the Li’l Abner cartoons.

GRACE SOLARES

MIKE SIMPSON

This guy has raised no money.

The candidates who did not file reports this month were new candidates Seth Skalarey and Lorry Woods.

I will update this story whenever Rosy Palomino’s report becomes accessible.

ROSY PALOMINO

Distant third.  She loaned herself more money than she got other folks to give her.  Had an embarrassing Kick-Off event that clashed with Coconut Grove Village meeting.
