WHAT’S AN ELECTION IN MIAMI WITHOUT ILLEGAL AND STOLEN SIGNS

On Saturday, Code Enforcement employees removed an illegal campaign sign promoting Seth Sklarey from the candidate’s area at Miami City Hall.  Sklarey from what I hear has had a contentious relationship during the years with the city over his campaign signs, and you’ll probably see a couple more of these signs around the District by election day.

Code Enforcement also removed a number of Sarnoff campaign signs that had been placed illegally around the West Grove early on in the race.

Sarnoff has a history of putting illegal campaign signs wherever he wants, as evidenced by all of these illegal signs that appeared along Biscayne Boulevard just before election day in 2011, so you can expect that on Monday and Tuesday there will be all kinds of Teresa Sarnoff signs illegally planted around the city.

Ken Russell has had his own problems with signs, first putting out his signs to early and having a number of them removed by Code Enforcement, and then having Code Enforcement illegally take down the signs he had a right to put on a fence at the corner of US 1 and South Bayshore Drive.

A week or so after replacing those signs, they disappeared again, this time taken by sign thieves.  Russell came back, and for the third time put up his signs.

Grace Solares’ signs also seem to have been the target of sign thieves, because I noticed driving around that a number of her signs along South Bayshore drive have disappeared.

I’ve seen only a handful of signs for the other candidates, but I suspect that their problem is that they didn’t raise enough money to put out many signs to begin with.

Because there really aren’t any penalties for putting up illegal signs - other than having Code Enforcement seize them - you can expect that on Tuesday there will be illegal signs everywhere.  Might I suggest that you use the sighting of those signs to guide you as to who to vote for.

If a candidate is willing to put up illegal signs because of the expectation that nothing will happen - including not even having most of them removed before the end of the day - then what other illegal activities can you expect them to engage in if they get elected.

It’s Miami, Bitches!
