IT COULD REALLY GET CRAZY IN DORAL
COULD LUIS CABRERA REALLY BECOME
CHIEF OF POLICE OF DORAL

Nelson Horta is reporting on his blog this morning that Miami’s Acting Assistant City Manager/Pretend Deputy Police Chief, Luis Cabrera, could become the Chief of Police for the City of Doral in the wake of the firing of City Manager Joe Carollo.

Normally you have to take what Horta writes with a grain of salt, but this is the kind of double-dealing, crazy move that might actually happen, especially since Horta often acts as the mouthpiece for Armando “The Whopper” Gutierrez, who as Tomas Regalado’s campaign manager continues to lurk behind the scenes in Regaladoland.

Regalado took an active, if behind the scenes part in the battle between Carollo and Doral Mayor Lugi Boria by sending over Angel “The Idiot” Zayon to provide Boria with advice and support, and getting him to appoint Cabrera Police Chief as a payback would solve a lot of problems in the city, especially in the Police Department, where Cabrera’s eminent return is looked on with both glee by those who can’t wait for Cabrera to go batshit crazy, and with trepidation by those who will be forced to work directly with Cabrera and would have to deal with Cabrera when he goes batshit crazy.

The big problem for Cabrera would be that he’d have to walk away from the remaining years that he has in his DROP, which in this case would mean a loss of about $500,000.00.

That’s a lot of money to risk just to be able to become a Chief of Police in a city that is arguably even more politically treacherous than Miami.

But then, while he can go back to the Miami Police Chief as the Deputy,  the fact is that Cabrera is recognized as too emotionally unstable for the City Commission to ever ratify his being allowed to become Chief of Police in Miami.

One additional reason why Cabrera might actually take the job if it is offered is that in the internal war that’s been playing out between Regalado’s various “Godsons,” Cabrera seems to have lost the battle to Angel Zayon, who today seems to have become Papi Chulo’s favorite “Godson.”

That won’t bode well for the director of the Film Office, Vincente Betancourt, another of the “Godsons” who will no longer be able to hang out and depend on protection from Cabrera. If Cabrera leaves, Betancourt will be fresh meat for Zayon.

For those who don’t have HBO, the goings on at City Hall are as good or better than the hit show Game Of Thrones.

It’s Miami, Bitches!
