MANNY DIAZ JOINS THE POLLUTERS
BILLBOARD COMPANIES LIKE CBS OUTDOOR MAKE BIG BUCKS FROM VISUAL POLLUTION, ESPECIALLY IN MIAMI WHERE EVEN THE CITY’S MRC BUILDING HAS OUTDOOR ADVERTISING ON ITS WALLS

On August 5, 2014 CBS Outdoor announced that former Miami Mayor Manny Diaz had been appointed to their board of directors. They also revealed that they had given him a signup bonus of 1,198 shares of stock valued at $40,000.

They didn’t reveal what his cash compensation will be, but based on the payments made to the board members of its parent company, which goes from a high of $325,534 to a low of $277,534, you can expect that Diaz will receive upwards of $100,00 - $150,000, or more for his services.

Why would CBS Outdoor decide that getting Manny Diaz on their board might be a good idea?  Perhaps its because they are in the process of buying out Van Wagner Outdoor Advertising which has a lucrative contract with the City of Miami for bus bench advertising.

For those who are new to the Crespogram Report, I did a sizable story about Van Wagner and their programmable bus bench signs back in April.

These bus bench signs have been a subject of some controversy, both because when the contract was held by FUEL Advertising they contributed $18,000 of unreported advertising to Commissioner Willie Gort’s reelection effort in 2011, and because the contract allows the contract holder to evade paying any percentage of profits to the City unless all of the bus bench signs are rented.

That has never happened, and the City of Miami has never collected a cent of percentage profits.

The supervision for insuring that these contracts are written in a way to benefit the City has always been left to suck-asses like Vanessa Acosta, whose never been shy about letting everyone know how tight she and Willie Gort are thanks to her Momma, and of course to Veronica Diaz, who, as I’ve written about recently made sure that the contract with the ULTRA Music Festival DID NOT contain any provisions for the City to audit their ticket sales.

So now we have Manny Diaz sitting on the CBS Outdoor Board of Directors, and the CBS Outdoor Company poised to take over the Van Wagner contract with the City of Miami.

Who wants to bet that CBS Outdoor will be seeking revisions to the Van Wagner contract, and that Manny Diaz, the Billboard Pimp, Marc Sarnoff and the corrupt City Commission Chairman Willie Gort reach an amicable understanding that will make sure that CBS Outdoor Company gets whatever they want and that the contract will continue to screw the taxpayers.

It’s Miami, Bitches!
