WHY DOES NELSON HORTA KEEP WRITING ABOUT EMILIO AND
GLORIA ESTEFAN
THE ESTEFAN’S DENY THAT THEY’RE GOING TO HAVE A RESTAURANT AT THE RENOVATED MIAMI MARINE STADIUM, BUT NELSON HORTA KEEPS SAYING THAT THEY HIS SOURCES SAY THEY MIGHT. WHAT’S ALL THAT ABOUT?
PART III

On June 30th, Nelson Horta, who publishes the Nelson Horta Report - in Spanish - wrote a story about Emilio and Gloria Estefan and their possible plans to open a restaurant and nightclub at the Miami Marine Stadium. (Here is a portion of that story. You can read the whole story by clicking on the link above.)

Quite frankly, I didn’t know what to make of Horta’s story.  First, he’s closely connected to Armando “The Whopper “ Gutierrez, who’s still considered by man as Miami’s Shadow Mayor for his closeness to Tomas Regalado, so if this story was true, then I figured that it had probably come from Regalado or one of his inner circle, but at the same time it didn’t make sense because if in fact Emilio and Gloria were in fact planning to have any financial relationship with a restaurant, nightclub or even a hotdog stand at the Marine Stadium they would be engaging in some pretty bold and ballsy self-dealing, given that Gloria has become the public face of the fund raising efforts, and Emilio, who is now Miami-Dade County’s unpaid Goodwill Ambassador, would also have to answer for any efforts he he made to promote the Stadium while working behind the scenes to become a potential tenant.

That’s why last Thursday I went to the Press Conference at the Marine Stadium, and became part of the media scrum surrounding the two after the press conference.  I wanted, and did ask them if it was true that they were planning to open a restaurant at the Stadium.

Here is their answer.

The answer sounded pretty straight forward and definitive to me, and I left the Marine Stadium convinced that Horta had gotten it wrong.

On Friday morning however, when I check on Horta’s site to see what he had posted, wouldn’t you know that he had posted a new story, again claiming that his sources were telling him the Estefan’s could open a new Bongo’s at the Marine Stadium. (Again, here is a portion of that story. You can read the whole story by clicking on this LINK.)

Now I certainly take the Estefan’s word that they aren’t opening a restaurant at the Marine Stadium over Horta’s claims that he got this story from a source, but the question that’s beginning to puzzle me is why is Horta pushing this rumor?

I check his site on a regular basis and there is very little that he writes about that doesn’t appear to be attached to an agenda, more often then not I suspect that agenda is Armando Guterriez’s, and clearly two stories in less than six months, and the latest one the day after the Estefan’s participation at the press conference doesn’t seem like a simple coincidence.

Anybody feel free to send me an email if you got any ideas on what Horta’s up to.

It’s Miami, Bitches!
