NOW YOU SEE HIM, NOW YOU DON’T
BACK IN THE BAD OLD DAYS OF COMMUNIST RUSSIA AND CUBA, WHEN PEOPLE FELL OUT OF FAVOR, THE GOVERNMENT WOULD DISAPPEAR THEM FROM EVERYTHING INCLUDING FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHS. WHEN IT COMES TO THE MIAMI MARINE STADIUM DEAL, MANNY ALONSO POCH’S NAME HAS BEEN SCRUBBED FROM ALL DOCUMENTS IN THE LAST 3 WEEKS, BUT IS IT ONLY A MOVE TO HOODWINK THE PUBLIC AND THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION?

How much do people all over Miami hate the idea of Manny Alonso Poch being associated in any way with the the Miami Marine Stadium deal that I wrote about a couple days ago?

So much so that even though he’s the guy who is credited with putting the deal together between the Friends Of Miami Marine Stadium (FMMS), and the two development groups - TPA Group, LLC and his group EXPO-Miami, Inc. - FMMS in recent weeks has gone to extraordinary lengths to try and scrub his name and association with them and this deal from their proposal and the public record.

Perhaps the most astounding revelation that I uncovered about this situation is that of former United States Attorney for Miami, Roberto “Bob” Martinez, who was on the board of FMMS, and who in a direct quote told me, “I am not on the board. I resigned from the board, and I did not approve this deal with Expo-Miami or Manuel Alonso Poch.”

In a city where ethical behavior is as slippery as an eel, to have a guy as honest, principled and with his history of fighting public corruption when he was the US Attorney for Miami stand up and resign from this board over this issue is not only inspiring, but tells you just how serious and alarmed some people are taking Poch’s involvement in this deal.

On Monday, the Miami City Manager ‘s office released what they claimed was the 40 page proposal, and a 21 pages of Attachments that they received from FMMS. No matter where you look, you will not find a single mention of Manny Alonso Poch anywhere in that document.

Here it is, look for yourself.  Attachment #2, is the important one to look at because it provides the identity and resumes of the principals of the “Leadership Team.”

That the members of the FMMS would now exert this amount of effort to to distance themselves from a guy whose claims to fame include operating a scandal plagued charter school in Coconut Grove where he managed to pack the board of directors with family and corrupt cronies, and his de-facto ownership of the derelict 275 foot refrigerated cargo ship Ocean Freeze, that sat abandoned next to Bicentennial Park for several years as he worked hard to screw the taxpayers of Miami-Dade County, the City of Miami is completely understandable.

The only problem is that they should have done so before he showed up with his development plan and his newly formed corporation.

What everyone needs to understand, now that the Mayor and his cronies are trying to claim that Manny Alonso Poch was NEVER part of this deal is that they are out and out lying, and that, as much as anything else should wake people up and make them realize that by lying they are acknowledging that there is a lot more involved with this deal than people can even imagine, and that it probably all dirty.

And just to make sure there are no lingering doubts.  Let’s look at the actual corporate documents.

DOCUMENT #1

This is the original Corporate Application filed by Manny Alonso Poch on April 3, 2014.

DOCUMENT #2

This is the First Amendment to the Corporate documents adding the names of three other individuals as Officers, filed by Manny Alonso Poch on September 12, 2014.

DOCUMENT #3

This is the Second Amendment to the Corporate documents thatobviously was filed after the board meeting, and after everyone realized that Alonso Poch’s name had to be scrubbed from the record.

As Paul Simon once sang, there are “50 Ways To Leave Your Lover,” and there are obviously any number of ways to maintain control of a corporation even if you’re no longer listed as a corporate officer.

In some ways the difference between the Commies and the Capitalists is just the degree to which one is willing to go to erase someone from history.

It’s Miami, Bitches!

However, in an earlier version of the City Commission item provided to me by a surprising City Hall source the following information was prominently displayed.
