TERESA TREATS HOMELESS SURVEY AS PHOTO OP

Teresa Sarnoff has now been a candidate long enough for a lot of people to realize that she is a living, breathing version of a Stepford Wife. Little of what she says about the civic causes that she claims are why “she has dedicated her life to fighting for a better life for all South Floridians,” are reflected by an actual passion or commitment beyond perhaps looking out for dogs.

She’s been milking the homeless issue since last year when two of her husband’s legal roommates - Jay Solowlsky and Mason Pertnoy from the law firm of Solowsky and Allen, where Marc Sarnoff is listed “As Counsel” - set up her End Homelessness Now Foundation, followed soon after by her husband putting the bite on a handful of deep pocket developers who are part of the core of contributors that he repeatedly turns to when he needs money to fund one or another of his extracurricular activities.

With $70,000 in hand from Jorge Perez (The Related Group), Nitin Mowani (The Worldcenter), Nir Shohani (NR Investments,) Michael Simpkins (Miami Innovation Tower), and Steve Marin (Campaign Manager for both Marc and Teresa Sarnoff), the Commissioner twisted everyone’s arms at City Hall to arrange for the hundreds of thousands that the City, the DDA, and the OMNI and SEOPW CRAs put up, to be lumped together into a phony presentation check for $700,000 that made it appear that all that money was coming from wifey’s End Homelessness Now Foundation.

In typical Quid-Pro-Quo fashion, Camillus House gave Teresa Sarnoff an award for all of her efforts.

During the summer, when the Commissioner was feuding with Ron Book over how best to deal with the homeless folks in the downtown area - Sarnoff was pushing for a continuation of the temporary Mat Program, and trying to get the program funded by the Homeless Trust and not the City of Miami and Teresa’s Foundation - Sarnoff was forced to reveal that Teresa’s End Homelessness Now Foundation had run out of money.

Although Teresa’s Foundation has run out of money, it hasn’t stopped her from telling folks during several of the debates that she is the President of the Foundation, and that as a result of that relationship she continues to devote a fair amount on homeless issues.

Which brings us to last week’s Homeless Survey. Teresa didn’t show up to be a part of the survey as much as to exploit the event for her political benefit.

The photo that Teresa included in her Tweet above was taken by one of her husband’s aides who tagged along with her during the time that she was walking around, and to make sure that nothing untoward happened, she was also accompanied by Miami Police Officer James Bernat, who her husband arranged to have assigned as the Homeless Coordinator last tear.

The Sarnoffs seem to believe that being provided police protection - whether it’s the Commissioner’s need to have a personal police bodyguard and chauffeur, or wifey being escorted by Officer Bernat while she walks around posing for photos is all just part of the mindset that these two people have developed over how public service is really about personal entitlement.

By the way, I guess it must have been Boy’s Night Out for the esteemed City Commissioner while wifey was out posing for photographs with the homeless folks, because after she came home and recounted her adventure, I’m sure he regrets he did not tag along to share in her “great experience,” but then again...

It’s Miami. Bitches!
