CRESPOGRAM REPORT
BARRED FROM NUMEROUS GOVERNMENTAL COMPUTER NETWORKS FOR TELLING THE TRUTH

Let’s face it, even if you’re as cynical as I am about the competence level of elected officials in Miami-Dade County, deep down I think everybody kind of hopes that these people who are entrusted with looking out for the public’s money and well being do actually care about what it is that they do when they show up for work.

Unfortunately, the latest report from the County’s Inspector General’s Office on the failure of the county to adequately look out for the public’s interest when the rich folks sitting on the board of the unfinished Frost Science Museum managed to snooker the county by spending all of the public’s money while failing to raise almost none of the private money that they were supposed to in order to build the museum was a pretty damning document.

You would have never guessed that from the behavior of County Commission the day after the report was released.  If they even had a modicum of good sense, they might have even decided that perhaps they needed to study the Mayor’s request more closely in light of the report.

Not these bozos.

What they did instead, after a usual round of self-serving pandering and bullshit, was to cough up another $49 million in taxpayer dollars - without demanding any real accountability from the Mayor for the claims made in the IG’s report.

Some people in the community actually got upset about that, because no one ever gets fired after it’s discovered that the public has been raped like they were in this deal.

But the truth of the matter is that the Mayor and the members of the County Commission are never really on opposing sides when it comes to giving away public money. They are always co-conspirators who only argue over a deal if the back-room dealing making and money hasn’t been spread around to everyone’s satisfaction.

If the back-room deal making is okay with everyone, or at least with the majority who need to vote to pass one of these deals, then just about any nonsensical, bullshit excuse will be enough for them to go along with whatever the agreed upon deal is.

Yesterday, it was the often repeated, yet totally bogus claim by Mayor Carlos Gimenez, that as Doug Hanks tweeted out for brevity, “A mothballed museum...that was not an option.”

Of course it wasn’t, and other than Carlos Gimenez making that claim, no one, at any time or place, has ever proposed that that is what should happen to the museum.

He came up with this excuse because no one in the news media ever challenged him to his face about how phony that claim was, and if nothing else, Gimenez has figured out that the public for the most part is dumber than the County Commissioners when it comes to trying to sift through the bullshit that comes out of his mouth on a regular basis.

Carlos Gimenez is a big, phony suck-up when it comes to giving away public money to rich folks, especially if he gets to put on a tuxedo and have rich folks give him phony awards, like the one in the photo below given to him by Patricia Frost at their 2014 Gala. The award was a “Visionary Award on behalf of the citizens of Miami-Dade County.

WHEN THE BILLIONAIRE AND HIS WIFE HELD A GALA TO CELEBRATE THE BEGINNING OF CONSTRUCTION  OF THEIR MUSEUM, THE MAYOR SHOWED UP WITH A PROCLAMATION.  WHEN THESE SAME RICH PEOPLE SCREWED UP AND LEFT THE TAXPAYERS HOLDING THE BAG, THE MAYOR,  INSTEAD OF BITCH SLAPPING THE RICH PEOPLE, TURNED AROUND AND SCREWED THE TAXPAYERS ONCE AGAIN

PART II

COUNTY MAYOR CARLOS GIMENEZ WITH AN ASSIST FROM THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SCREWED THE TAXPAYERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY - AGAIN

And then of course there was the obligatory photo-op to show just how good pals the Mayor and his wife are with the Billionaire and his wife.

When I read about the gift I wasn’t surprised by the amount - the Frost’s are reportedly worth $4.8 BILLION and $100 million is well within their range of gift giving - but rather, my surprise was that this announcement came only days after the announcement that Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez wanted to spend $45 million more of Miami-Dade County taxpayer money - on top of the $165 million raised through a 2004 General Obligation Bond - to cover the costs required to finish construction of the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum Of Science, and that in order to underwrite the operating costs once construction was completed, the Mayor had also sent a Memorandum to the County Commission detailing how he wanted those some of those operating costs - as well as operating money for the PAMM and for the proposed Museum Park Conservancy - to be covered by using Tax Increment Funds (TIF) generated by the OMNI CRA to eliminate “slum and blight.”

Now mind you, I thought that it was great that Phillip and Patricia Frost were rich enough to give away a $100 million here, and $45 million there, and who know how much somewhere else.

It’s their money, and however they got it, it’s to everyone’s benefit that they’ve decided to donate it to doing good deeds rather than to pissing it away in any number of stupid and selfish ways, but at the same time, they kind of forced the whole Science Museum deal on the gullible public by claiming that they and their rich friends would pony up a big chunk of the money to get it built, and then to operate the museum. It wasn’t the public’s idea to build a science museum in the park, it was their idea.

But then again, at yesterday’s meeting the Commissioners needed to get this pesky problem behind them so they could focus on the most important item of the day, which was issuing a worthless, ignorant and embarrassingly symbolic resolution “expressing their concerns” about the US Treasury regulations singling out Miami and New York as the epicenter for crooks, schemers and corrupt politicians from around the world buying up million dollar plus condos in Miami, because at the end of the day, it’s not the public who the County Commissioners are elected to serve, it’s the deep pocket developers and the rich people like the Frosts.

It’s Miami, Bitches!

Back in January, the Frosts made a big splash at the swearing in of the new President of the University of Miami, when it was announced that they had donated $100 million dollars for the Science and Engineering Departments.
